Dog Found in Simpsonville, South Carolina

I found this sweet, sweet dog on the corner of Neely Ferry and Hipps Road in Simpsonville, South Carolina. She was in the middle of the road, wearing no collar and looked completely lost and confused, so I picked her up to see if I could find her person. I had her scanned for a microchip at Cedar Lake Animal Hospital, and she doesn’t have one. I have also searched the Lost Dog ads and posted her as a Found Dog on several websites. No one has called about her (well, one guy, but it wasn’t his dog). I know that this is a strange place to post about a found dog, but thought it couldn’t hurt and I could show lots of photos. Also, I am hoping to find her a home, so if you are looking to adopt a dog in the Greenville, SC area please be in touch. She is sweet as can be! More info about her below the photos.

When I brought her to the vet’s office to have her scanned for a microchip (on Tuesday, January 10), the vet said she looks to be between seven and nine months old. She felt for puppies, but did not feel any and said the dog is either very newly pregnant or experiencing a false pregnancy, which is apparently very common in un-spayed female dogs. The vet said she is too young to have already had a litter, but I think she may have (or the false pregnancy). The dog is as sweet as can be. She loves people and kids, but is not very playful. She is more of a serious dog, and loves to cuddle and give and receive affection. She is super mellow. I have had her with me since Tuesday and she hasn’t been hyper once. She may be depressed from losing her family, although she seems very under-socialized if she did have a family. Everything from the leash, to the car, to coming in a house has seemed brand new to her, but she adapts super quickly. She went from being freaked-out by the leash and collar on Tuesday to being able to go on a 3.5 mile run with me the next day with no leash issues whatsoever. I think she is part boxer and maybe part lab and rhodesian ridgeback. She weighs 50 pounds and may get a little bit bigger.

Please share this post with anyone you know who may have lost a dog like this or anyone who may want to adopt a dog like this. She will need to be spayed and get her shots and all that. She is clean and flea free (I gave her a bath and put Advantage on her). She seems housebroken, but the longest I have left her alone is 45 minutes and I take her out often. She has been sleeping in the bathroom, since I didn’t know if she would go to the bathroom in the house or not, and she goes right to sleep and sleeps all night. I really have never seen a dog adjust as well as her. I would keep her, but i just really don’t want the responsibility of a dog. I am happy to foster her until I find the right home where she will be loved and well-cared for. Thank you for looking!
